About Our Program
About Our Program
Our summer program offers 400+ camps and classes for Pre K - Grade 12 using a unique combination of talented educators from within the Orono Schools, neighboring school districts, and partnerships with several local and national education organizations. The goal is to provide programs that keep students active in both mind and body throughout the summer. We encourage students to spend their summer developing a healthy lifestyle, academic strengths, positive social skills and character. Whether you participate in your favorite activity or learn something new - we hope you HAVE FUN!
Register for summer at oronocommunityed.com based on the grade completed in the previous year.
Summer Community Ed Office
Due to summer construction, the Orono Community Education office has temporarily relocated to Orono Intermediate School Room 124 (please use Door E28).
Preparing for Camp
Camp Schedule
It is beneficial for younger students or students with multiple camps in one day to send a list of their camp locations for the day. Click here to print and use our form.
If your student is registered for Lunch Bunch and an afternoon program our staff will ensure they get those programs
If your student is enrolled in Spartan Kids or is riding the bus, our staff will ensure they get to and from the camp.
What to Bring
We encourage students to bring a backpack with the following items everyday.
- Filled Water Bottle
- Sunscreen: Please apply sunscreen at home and our staff will remind students to re-apply throughout the day. (With sunscreen being considered a topical medication, the student must apply the sunscreen themselves)
- Snack: Please consider sending nut-free snacks to be considerate of other students that may have a food allergy. If your student has any food allergies or other health concerns, please be sure to send us an email.
-
Lunch: If your student has a full day camp or both a morning and afternoon camp, they should pack a lunch (lunches will not be provided). Additionally, students with both a morning and afternoon camp on the Orono Schools campus should be signed up for Lunch Bunch.
-
Medications (EpiPen, inhaler, etc): Deliver medication with medical documentation to the Community Education Office, if applicable (unless your student can self-administer). Please contact us in advance if our staff will need to administer medications.
Student Absences
If your student will be absent from their class, please contact Orono Community Education at ceinfo@orono.k12.mn.us, so we can pass a message to the instructor.
Pick Up & Drop Off Directions
Drop-Off & Pick-Up - Intermediate School
Option 1: Curbside Drop-Off & Pick-up Please see map below!
The best option for parents/guardians that would like to remain in their car. Please remain in your vehicle throughout the pick-up & drop-off process. Students will enter and exit Door E27 marked with the blue star on the map.
- It is helpful to have a sign with your student(s) name in the window.
- Drive through the front loop marked with arrows on the map.
- Load and unload students on the curb side of your car (passenger side) so students do not need to walk around the car.
- Proceed to the furthest forward open spot available in the circle - staff will assist your student(s) to your car. As cars in front of you leave, please move up.
- Please exercise caution when exiting the circle.
Option 2: Walking Students to the Building
The best option if you want to talk with your child about their camp either right before or after it takes place, or if you need to connect with camp staff.
Park in Lot E marked on the map and walk into Door E27.
Please use the sidewalk and crosswalks at all times.
THE SAFETY OF OUR STUDENTS AND STAFF IS OUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY - PLEASE USE EXTREME CAUTION AND DRIVE WITH CARE AT ALL TIMES.
